Default Which Drop Seatpost is best

I have been interested in getting a drop seatpost for a while, but the reviews I have read are quite mixed. Has anyone had good longterm experiences with their drop seatpost? I ride an Intense 5.5 EVP, I don't race. In fact, I characterize my riding style as "tourist". But as I was riding the Pinhoti trails last weekend I realized how nice it would be to get the saddle out of the way on those swooping descents.

I have a lot of ride time on the KS i950 and the Gravity Dropper. The KS i950 has been fantastic but my favorite is still the GD for the only up and down option.

I have also heard really good things about the new RockShox Reverb.

Do you have any you could test ride?

Make sure you only look at models with a remote on the handlebar for actuation. While the other under seat releases might be less expensive, the idea is to be able to put your seat down while you are riding without having to take your hands off the bars. With the remote, it is always available to use.

I use the Specialized Command post. No complaints, except the first one failed. Like the ability to just be in one for the 3 positions rather than the unlimited range of the hydraulic models. I know where mine will be when I ask for it - no surprises.

I see where Fox has come out with a post like this - I might get that one when my Specialized product invariabily fails.....sigh......

    Default drop seat post

just got the KS drop seat post. Love it. Don't think the 3" drop was enough so I went for the 5" and am very happy. The price is a little less than the Rox shock reverb. The thumb control is very smooth and looks great on the handlebars.

I use a KS i950 r it's not bad but it doesn't works perfectly. Sometimes it doesn't go up and you have to help it.
The remote is very strong and don't failed on falls.

The most reliable seems to be the Gravity Dropper, i prefer the Turbo one.

I ahve the RS Reverb and I can't say enough about how much I like it. I got one of the first ones and after about 4 months it would not hold pressure any more. But RS replaced for free and this one has been running fine for the past 3 months.

I would install the remote left hand upside down as I have seen plenty of people breakthem when mountied top side on the right.

I've used a KS Cobra on a Mongoose Teocali I have. I really can't speak from experience since it is really the only one I have used, but overall I really like it. The only real problem I have is sometimes it is "a little" stiff and doesn't want to drop easily. If I remember to use it a few times in the parking lot/trail head I generally don't experience this problem.

I've been using a Crank Brothers Joplin 4 on my RIP 9 for the last several months and I'm very satisfied with it. Haven't had any issues as of yet.
