Default What does everyone take on the trail to eat?

I've tried the Honey Stingers, there to expensive and rich and don't do much for me. The Bar Cliff bar I don't care for too much either.

I like taking dried fruit, they have a box at Walgreens for a buck, its walgreen brand but its really good, they have 3 or 4 different kinds and its light. It seems to be about the only thing that I have noticed that gives me a boost.

Also Walmart brand trail mix with m & m is a good light snack.

PayDays work out great. You get salt, protein and some sugar all in one. Available at any gas station and cheap!

Have you tried the Honey Stinger Waffles? I love those things!!

PayDays are pretty good though. Cheap and easy to eat...

GU Vanilla Bean gels and Honey Stinger Waffles. If I'm doing a really big ride I will shove either a package of PopTarts or a PBJ sandwich in my pack. I also keep my water bottle full of Infinit Nutrition drink mix.

I dig on the cliff bars granola (crunches) or trail mix without a ton of sugar. Natures Sunshine makes drink packets called solstice. There is one for energy and one for electrolyte replenish. I'll put one of each in bottles or in the camelbak.
The better question is what do you take on the trail in Texas???.....it's been 104-107 here most of July and all of August so far. Everything but the granola melts.
Have you ever seen a raisin melt? I have..

You can't beat a jam buttie out here in the UK..but a banana sandwich with (homemade) raspberry jam is the ultimate trail snax..

Anything under two hours it really won't make much different in performance on a nice recreational ride. After that I look to peanut butter and honey sandwiches - heavy grained bread to slow the digestion - and at least one bottle of Accelerade. The 4 to 1 ratio of Carbs to Protein in Accelerade helps with glycogen depletion and repair of muscles for those rides later in the week!
