Default Trying to Pull in a couple sponsors

So I've been racing a couple years now and last year had a phenominal season in the cat one division and really ramped up my riding and this year am moving up to the pro catagory. Like most I work full time and also have to raise a family. I know this is a self supported sport for the most part but I would definetly like to get some sort of discounted rate for equipment or such. I'm racing with a bike club now and recieve some pretty good discount for race fees.
I've started a blog to chronical my race days and season and hope to do some advertising through that. Any other tips out there to bring in a larger sponsor, even for just a slight discount/help to continue racing?

Even though I'm not sponsored, the best advice is pretty much JFK's famous quote paraphrased. Don't ask what a potential sponsor will do for you. Tell the sponsor what you would do for them. Don't just expect that a company that already has employees to care for is going to hand you the keys to the vault. Show them how familiar you are with their product/services, the type of exposure you'd give their products/services, and how you would be an appropriate spokesperson for their brand.
